Itinerary

Detailed Itinerary:

Day1: Kathmandu- Bardia National Park

We leave Kathmandu early in the morning and head towards Bardia following the Trishuli Highway at first and then the Mahendra Highway westwards after we reach the Tarai. We reach Bardia during the evening and rest for the night in a local accommodation near the National Park.

We can try the stupendous local cuisine during the evening before we call it a day.

Day2: Bardia National Park Tour

Bardia National Park is the largest and the least spoilt(by human activities) wilderness zone in the Nepali Tarai making the jungle safari experience there even more intense. This mostly sub-tropical jungle ; home to the One Horned Rhinos, Asiatic Elephants, the Royal Bengal Tigers and hundreds of other mammals and rare vegetation, Bardia provides a truly unique experience.

 After our daylong adventures in the dense forest, we head to our accommodation and end our evenings in awe of the place.

Day3: Bardia-Mahendranagar- Nainitaal(2084 m asl):

We have a lot of road to cover this day so we move out quite early this day. We reach Mahendranagar, the last town in Nepal during the early afternoon and we keep heading westwards towards the Indian hills. We cross popular towns in India like Haldwani and Khatima where you can engage in light shopping. We reach Nainitaal during the night to be welcomed by the lovely nightlife around the Nainitaal lake area. We rest for the night in a hotel in front of the lovely lake.

Day4: Nainitaal Sightseeing

There are plenty of attractions around the Lake area where you can have a stroll around in the morning. During the day, we can go other touristy places like the High altitude zoo, snow view point, lake view point, Shree Maa Nainadevi Temple, Cave garden, Jama Masjid, Nepali/Tibetan market, lovers point, suicide point, AC cave, Rajbawan cliffs, Hanuman Mandir and a host of other places that will let you know more about the lifestyle and culture of the people around the region.

We can also take a tour of the several other lakes around the Nainitaal Area this day. The lakes are named as Bhimtaal, Sattaal, Naukuchiataal, Khurpataal, Malwataal, Harishtaal and Lokhamtaal. You can involve yourself in adventure activities provided by the locals around the several lakes there like paragliding, zipline, gocart, kayaking, boating, cycling and a host of other things.

We can also stroll around the bazaars of Nainitaal trying the specially good(and also quite cost effective) Muslim food around the Masjid area during the evening. The landscape and the housing patters in the area are also really unique so it will be quite an adventure just to be lost around the ‘gallis’ of the Lake area too. We rest for the night in a Lakeside hotel.

Day5: Nainitaal- Dehradun

We leave Nainitaal early in the morning this day after breakfast as we have a lot of ground to cover. We go down the hills in to the plains and up again as we head towards Dehradun. We can take side trips to Haridwar, Rishikesh and Raja Ji Tiger reserve on the way, time and resource permitting (will take an extra day.) We have a whole day of driving this day.

Day6: Dehradun- Mahendranagar

The day of our return has come quite soon and after having our breakfasts in front of the gorgeous hills of Dehradun, we get back on our vehicles and start our eatwards Journey back to Kathmandu. We might opt to choose a different path while we return as we enter Nepal. We rest for the night in the borderside city of Mahendranagar.

Day7: Mahendranagar- Kathmandu

We leave early morning this day from Mahendranagar as we keep heading eastwards towards Chitwan and then northwards towards Kathmandu following the Trishuli river. We travel almost 12 hours this day before we reach Kathmandu during the night.
